The Power of Hydration

Hydration plays a huge role in how we function and how we feel. Because of this, staying hydrated is one of the most important things we can do for ourselves. Considering our bodies are made up of around 60% water, it is critical that we provide our bodies with what it needs to stay healthy and running. Decreases in hydration cause other parts of our bodies to work harder, causing us to feel more tired. For example, the heart has to work harder to pump oxygen. If you want to have energy and have a positive mood, make sure you are drinking enough water!

Managing Stress in College

College can be a very stressful time in our lives. We may be swamped with schoolwork, have multiple exams coming up, or have big changes or events in our lives. It can be hard sometimes, dealing with so many different things going on. One thing stacks on top of another, and next thing you know, you don't know what to do to maintain your emotions, and don't have the confidence in yourself that you can conquer each and every day. The great news is this doesn't have to be the case. There are many different things you can do to help reduce stress in your life. Doing things you enjoy while feeling stressed is a great option for taking a break from what is stressing you out. It can help give you a sense of peace and happiness. There are many other things you can do, such as breathing techniques. This can help calm your body down and feel relaxed. I hope everyone is able to do these types of things anytime you start to feel stressed out at college!

How to Build a Great Morning Routine in College

Mornings can be rough in college. Not many people enjoy waking up for an 8 am class. It is possible however, to start your mornings off right, feeling refreshed and ready to get the day going. It all starts with the night before. Do your best to get to bed at a decent time. This will allow you to wake up with enough time to do the things you want to do before class. Everyone has heard that breakfast is the most important part of the day. There is truth behind that, as it will give you the energy to feel awake and ready to face the rest of the day. Personally, I always enjoy a nice warm shower, followed by some black coffee to go along with my breakfast. This allows me to start my day off right and feel ready for what is ahead of me. I recommend to find your morning routine that helps you feel awake and alive as soon as you start your day!

Eating Healthy in College

Nutrition is one of the most important parts of our overall health and well-being. Because of this, we need to really think about how we are fueling our bodies. College can be a difficult time to maintain a proper diet, because of schedules and other activities. It may seem easier to just run to McDonald's or order a pizza regularly, but this will not be fueling your body in the right way. Don't get me wrong, a nice Big Mac or a huge pizza are not things we need to completely avoid, they just can't be the main things we are eating. Consuming all five food groups: fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins, and dairy. This will properly fuel our bodies, allowing for a healthy and happy life.
